Charlotte MOM Community Volunteer Job Descriptions

  1. Unload Trucks and Set Up Clinic: Help unload MOM supply trucks at site and set up clinic areas with portable dental equipment as directed by MOM personnel. Set up tables and chairs, lay out electric cords and air compressor hoses, put up signs. Must be able to carry heavy boxes and help move equipment around the site. Time required: Thursday 10AM- 5PM.
     
  2. Patient Information and Orientation: Meet patients as they enter CCC Exhibit Hall B. Place white consecutively numbered wrist bands on patient’s right arm. Orient patients on the flow process and maintain the information desk. Time required: Thursday 5-10PM, both shifts on Friday, and Saturday through 2 PM.
     
  3. Patient Registration: Assist patients in filling out the registration forms completely.  Knowledge of Spanish would be helpful, but translators will be available if needed.  Time required:  Thursday 5-10 PM, both shifts on Friday and Saturday through 2 PM.
     
  4. Spanish-English Translators: Serve as translators to assist communication between patients and clinic personnel. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Time required: Thursday 5 PM – 10:30 PM; every shift on Friday and Saturday.
     
  5. Volunteer Registration: Maintain volunteer sign-in sheets for all professional and community volunteers.  Separate sign-in sheets are maintained for each job type.  Distribute and collect colored vests for various job types.  Time required:  Thursday 5-10PM, and both shifts on Friday and Saturday.  Please arrive at least 1 hour early to your shift, so you are ready when the first volunteers arrive to sign-in.
     
  6. Triage Scribes: Record examination comments and instructions as directed by the Triage Dentists. Assist and perform small errands as directed. One scribe per Triage Dentist is needed. Time required: Thursday 5-10PM, and both shifts on Friday, and Saturday through 2PM.
     
  7. Patient Escorts: Escort patients form x-ray to triage area, and then from triage to designated treatment waiting area. Escort patients from treatment waiting area to specific dentist or hygienist in the treatment area. After treatment is completed, escort patient to check out and then the exit. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Time required: All shifts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
     
  8. Shift Leaders: Serve as team leader by supervising/coordinating team members within specific work areas for which you will be trained. Time required: All shifts on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Please arrive at least 1 hour early to your shift, so you can be oriented to your position before your team members arrive.
     
  9. Patient Checkout: Collect registration forms form patients who have completed their treatment. Provide gauze packets and instructions to those patients that have had extractions. Make sure that treatment provided is accurately documented on the patient’s registration form. Assist patients in locating their family/friends that have accompanied them. Return completed registration forms to data entry area. Time required: All Shifts on Friday and Saturday.
     
  10. Data Entry: Computerize the statistics from the entire clinic with regard to patient numbers, procedures performed and volunteer participation. Time Required: All shifts on Friday and Saturday.
     
  11. Breakdown Clinic and Load Supply/Equipment Trucks: Help breakdown the clinic, disassemble equipment, pack up supplies and load trucks as directed by MOM personnel. Must be able to carry heavy boxes and help move equipment around the site. Time Required: Sunday 9AM- 2PM.
